Interview with Kierra Perkins

Kierra Perkins - Honor Roll Student, Cheerleader, Race Car Driver, Inspiration Leader, CEO.

Kierra Perkins is an enthusiastic and engaging young women who is lighting fire in the hearts and homes of people nationwide! Her business ‘Kandles By Kierra’ is a inspiring story born out of the love for her own family. It has now grown into a budding business that has seen her being congratulated with many awards- including 2019 Entrepreneur On The Rise award.

Inspired by the her charming character and ability to juggle school, multiple extra curricular activities and start her own business, Kebloom got in touch with Kierra to hear more about her story:


  

1) Please introduce yourself !

My name is Kierra Perkins. I am 14 years Old and I am the CEO of Kandles By Kierra. I am from Nashville, Tennessee.


A young creative mind can grow a business and you don't have to wait until you're an adult to reach your goals.” 


2) Where are you based?

Kandles By Kierra is based in Nashville, Tennessee.

3) How old were you when you founded your business?

I began Kandles By Kierra at the age of 11 after creating a candle for my dad for Father’s Day.

4) What is the name of your business?

The name of my business in Kandles by Kierra - and Kandles is spelt with a K!

5) Tell us a little bit about Kandles by Kierra.

I wanted to do something different for my dad for Father’s Day so I looked up candle making videos and I made him the Chocolate Chip Cookies and Milk Candle. The response from family, friends and even social media was very overwhelming! They were surprised by how the candle looked and wanted one of their own. From there, Kandles By Kierra was created. I use only the highest quality soy wax and infuse my kandles with fragrances that will linger in your home. You will be surprised how far the scent carries. Plus best of all you can own a candle for less than the cost of a fast food lunch!

6) What passions inspired your business?

I am a very outgoing person!

My hobbies include volleyball, cheerleading, running track and driving a Jr. Dragster race car. The passion that inspired me to start my business is my creativity. And what I love about it is I get to see my visions come to life!

7) What skills have you developed from running the business?

Some skills I have developed from running my business are time management, networking, communications skills and calculations.

 

You must love what you do! If you don’t believe in your ideas nobody else will!

8) What advice would you give to other young entrepreneurs?

You must love what you do! If you don’t believe in your ideas nobody else will! You cannot be successful if you’re only about making money. My personal motto is a young, creative, mind can create a business and you do not have to wait until you're an adult to reach your goal!

9) What are your current goals and what is your ultimate one?

My current goals are to finish high school, go to college, continue to inspire people and my ultimate goal is to open my very own Kandles By Kierra Store.
