Interview with Macey

Meet Macey, a thirteen year old entrepreneur who runs an interior design business called Jr Inside Designs!

She loves creating things to inspire people and make them happy. She took her passions of design and her families new house as an inspiration to create a new, fun business.

Wanting to learn more about her inspirations, her business, and what it’s like to be so young with such a wonderful business, Kebloom contacted this amazing entrepreneur!

1) Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I’m Macey, I’m 13, and I’m the founder, employee, and everything in between of Jr Inside Designs!

“Manage your time well; balance your business with everything else you have to do in your life”

2) How did you come up with your business name?

The name Jr Inside Designs comes from when you have an entry-level job as an interior designer, you are a junior interior designer. Since I was fairly new at the beginning of the business, I thought that would be fitting, especially since I am pretty young. Inside Designs just felt right and rolled off the tongue, so I added that on to imply interior design and home decor.

3) How old were you when you founded your business?

I was 12 when I had the business idea, and I was 13 whenever I officially launched Jr Inside Designs.

You might as well start messy than never.”

4) What inspired your business?

I've always had a bunch of entrepreneurial spirit and made as many little businesses as I could, and when my family bought this new home, I soon realized that I loved interior design and decorating. As we were decorating our home, I realized I could mix the two together.

5) Tell us a bit about your business:

Jr Inside Designs is home decor shipped to your door, making it easier than ever for people to decorate their house, even from their couch. Especially at a time like this where we're in our house more than ever, we should enjoy it as much as possible. We currently have one decor box and one decor piece for sale. We plan to have many different styles of decor to make it as easy as possible for you to choose your decor and have it shipped directly to your door.

“I have learned so much from my business: marketing, communication skills, time management, money management, budgeting, and even website design.”

6) Who are your customers?

My customers are people that want their house decorated with minimal effort.

7) What skills have you developed by running the business?

I have learned so much from my business that it is so hard to count, but some of the main ones would be marketing, communication skills, time management, money management, budgeting, and even website design.

My ultimate goal is to sell boxes in stores like Target and home decor stores!

8) What advice would you give to other young entrepreneurs?

Firstly, manage your time well; balance your business with everything else you have to do in your life. No matter how exciting your business may be, I know it's hard, but trust me it's worth it, and also, you'll never be 100% ready. You might as well start messy more than never.

9) Anything else you’d like to add?

My current short-term goals are to reach 10 sales 300 followers on instagram and break even financially. My current medium term goals are to put out more boxes of different styles. And, my ultimate goal is to sell boxes in stores like Target and home decor stores.

10) Anything else you’d like to add?
