Interview with Aden Little
Aden is the 8-year-old business owner of Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies. He started up his business at 6 years old only selling lemonade, one of his favourite beverages. However, after selling a huge quantity in his first week, Aden soon branched into cookies. Aden is constantly present at pop-up events, selling his products and making connections with other like-minded individuals. At his age and with his drive to succeed, there is no telling where he’ll go next!
Inspired by the ambition of this sweet-minded entrepreneur, Kebloom got in touch with Aden himself:
1) How would you best describe Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies?
I would describe Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies as the best lemonade and cookies you’ve ever had.
“ I’ve learned that people want to know about you, so let them know the real you.”
2) How old were you when you founded your company?
I was 6 when I sold my very first cup of lemonade. I’m now 8.
3) What passions inspired Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies?
It wasn’t so much a passion that inspired my business. Really, it all started when I asked my dad to buy me a video game and he told me that I would have to earn it. When I asked my mom what I should do she said, “why don’t you come up with a business to make you some money?” I brainstormed all night and finally
decided I would sell lemonade since I liked lemonade and who doesn’t, right?
My mom helped me come up with my recipe and we then had a taste test to make sure it was good. She helped me decide what bottle I should package the lemonade and my dad helped me with logo and promotions.
I started an Instagram page and told people I was going to sell lemonade. In my first week I sold 100 jars. I love cookies and given my success with the lemonade, I decided to start selling cookies also - that’s how I became Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies. The recipe came from my dad messing around in the kitchen. He always says if you put love in the recipe it’ll always be good, but I haven’t seen love sold in stores yet!
“Never give up. It’s not always going to be easy but as long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters.”
4) Who supports you with your business?
I feel supported by many people, but my mom, dad and brother are my biggest support network. They are at every event helping me out.
5) What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs/inventors?
The advice I would give to aspiring entrepreneurs would be to never give up. It’s not always going to be easy but as long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters. I would also tell them to be themselves. I’ve learned that people want to know about you, so let them know the real you.
6) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped you achieve your dreams?
Kebloom helps me to tell my story. There are many kids and adults alike that want to do things but don’t know where to start or what to expect. Kebloom helps me help them by giving them my personal insight.
7) What has been the best part about running your business?
The best part of running Aden’s Royal Lemonade and Cookies has been meeting new people. I love to meet people and show them what I can do. I’ve even made a lot of new friends that are young entrepreneurs like me.
8) What has been the most challenging part?
The most challenging part of running my business is the getting ready for events. It takes a lot of time and effort to get things ready. I have to make
sure I have enough to sell and to arrange my display, which my mom usually helps me with.
9) What skills do you feel you have developed since becoming a business owner?
Since becoming my own boss, I have learned how to speak in public. My first speaking event I was so nervous, but my dad helped me calm down. It gets easier
and easier every time!
…and anything else you’d like to add!
